Category: Let's talk
Okay, before everyone starts saying how stupid this is and it's a waste of space, this only came up because someone said something in public qn's. This is not a way to slam the opisite sex, but to find out what you think about being the sex you are. What do you like, what do you not like, and what is it that really anoys you about being a man or woman. That's not to say that you can't comment on what anoys you about the opisite sex as well, but, let's all not start degrading each other by calling the other gender nasty names, please?
I don't really think of my friends/family or people in gender terms, a gender is just another aspect of their personality, I don't think such and such is like that because she's a girl, but she's a friend and, yes, happens to be a girl (of course this is quite different when looking for a partner where gender plays a main role, except for some people).
But, that being said, I think there aredefinitely a few advantages to being a man, dressing up is easy (you can wear the same tuxido 10 times in a row and no one has an issue with it), we don't have to worry about make up and such, shave and keep our hair neat, put on a clean suit and we're ready to attend a party or a function, of course we also don't have to deal with the discomfort of menstruating, which I am very thankful for. Of course in a relationships, no matter how tough the guy acts, I think we're the underdogs, we leave the control happily to our women, because they just do it better than we can, of course opinions may differ on the subject. ;)
agree with all you say, well...not really sure about wearing the same thing 10 times...sure someone would notice. lol!. yeah....it's grate, we don't have to spend hours worrying about how we look. bottom line is, us guys are lazy!. for me, quite happy to sit in front of the tv, and watch a good football match. hahaha
Yeah, someone may notice if we wear the same clothes over and over…but we don’t care.
Not all girls are obsessed with their looks. I don't even know how they find time to make sure their hair and makeup is all perfect, and the changing of outfits every five minutes? I can't understand that. I even find shopping a bit boring unless I actually need something. High heel shoes are something i can neverr understand either. All of that lumps us in to a stereotypical category whether we are "girly" or not.
you said it, glenja. :)
it's unfair that guys get to pee standing up....
lol Pipi, but they don't care how they aim, cause usually they don't have to clean it up. As for females having to do all that girly stuff, well, that doesn't interest me either. I don't ware make up, I don't ware dresses or high heeled shoes, and I hate! changing outfits every 5 minutes. oh, and I only shop when I need something, but that's just me.
I never wear makeup. High heels are okay, but I don't wear those every day.
Hello, don't ware makeup either. And don't like long hair, lol.
there is nothing wrong in wearing make up as per women, you see. and, I don't like those who doesn't care to look good by themselves.
I spend a lots of money for my dresses and for my perfumes. and I even don't like to be differed from my other colleagues.
and I'm glad being a male since we don't need that much time for wearing a make up of course.
raahj, you where dresses and perfume? lol
Hi, I don't change clothes every five minutes, I hate shopping to unless I realy need something and I don't ware hi heals. I do have perfumme and some times a bit of make up but not all the time. I hate having monthly periods to.
Well Michelle, there is this *one* way to guarantee no periods for nine months lol
Yes I see what you mean. Hahaha.
Actually, there's a new birth control pill which keeps you from ever having a period. Google Lybrel! (I just read about it yesterday.)
That said, this just isn't the big problem a lot of women make it out to be! It can be inconvenient, but so are a lot of other things in life. There are ways of making pains go away, and products that make it so that you'd scarcely know you're having a period. If the alternative is pregnancy, then I'm happy to deal with a minor monthly inconvenience! It is reassurance that I'm healthy, all is as it should be, and that's a gift, IMO.
So obviously, I don't mind being a girl. *grin* Those stereotypes mentioned above are just that, and merely ways of getting attention, I think. i'm another person who doesn't wear makeup, my hair is long but doesn't require a lot up maintenance, though I do wear very feminine dresses with swingy skirts, though no high heels for me, either. They are devices of torture, and it's not fun to work with a dog wearing them!
I do like to shop, if I have good assistance, otherwise, it's a chore.
The only thing that comes to mind that is an annoyance is that condescending manner I get too often, which I don't suppose men have to deal with. I don't appreciate being spoken to by strangers, as though I'm a child! That simply could be because I'm blind, or because I look young... I don't know, but it grates on my nerves!
Dusty runs and ducks for cover as he's been around long enough to know that if there's one thing worse for women than having periods, it's the "oh come on, they're not that bad" response lmao
yeah, run dusty, run! lol! nice points so far on here, btw. I think the talking to like a child could be because your blind though, cause I get that to, as I'm sure many other blind people do.
Actually, to my understanding, and with what my ob/gyn told me...not having a period is seriously unhealthy. Think about it, where else is the blood and stuff suppose to go? If it doesn't get the chance to leave it stays in there, and can turn into cancerous tissue; or help your flesh turn cancerous; not exactly certain on the specifics. However, despite that uncertainty I do remember clearly being told that not having periods can be very dangerous. That's the main reason the Deppo Prevera shot is getting such trouble right now (at least in recent months)...Having said that, I don't mind having my period either. It could mean babies for me; if things aren't worse than we realize. I just hope they start coming more regularly; in my case it's the irregularity that's driving me up the wall. Also, I wish that my breasts wouldn't be sore for 2 weeks before the damn thing even gets here...14 days and counting with sore breasts (like everyone really wanted to know that)! Anyways, when it boils right down to it; I may have complaints about my body or whatever, but I think the goods balance out the bad; that is if I can conceive. LOL
I wasn't going to post in here as it seemed to be just full of the usual amusing stereotypes but I want to raise a point on how difficult it is to be a man in the Noughties (or whatever we're calling this decade!)
This may be a phenomenon unique to the UK so I apologise if you think I'm talking BS but for several years now it has been the norm to portray men as stupid, incompetent and generally inferior within advertising. Things like how we can't work a washing machine without instructions, look after children without help from mum or even quite blatant sexist put-downs. These may all be quite minor things but they would never even get to storyboard stage if done the other way around. We all know that for many decades women had (and still have) to put up with the most horrendous sexism and piss-poor treatment from men and society in general but the pendulum has, to an extent swung too far the other way. At the risk of sounding like a tofu-eating, tree-hugging, sandal-wearing, yogurt-knitting, offender-hugging leftie we should be aiming for equality, but the advertising industry seems to want revenge first. Your thoughts?
Oh, and my experience in the workplace leads me to the conclusion that the people most likely to hold back the career progression of women are other women. Nothing spectacular in that, just thought I'd throw it out there.
Now that's the serious stuff over, back to life, back to frivolity ...
My thoughts; in an ideal world there would be perfect equality, but unfortunately I've seen to much of what your saying about men. I'm female, and it still drives me nuts to hear things like men can't cook, take care of children, clean house, ETC. My husband does all the above splindidly; not that he has too, but he likes to cook and take care of children, and cleaning is something we often do together; when he's got time do to work issues...
I wish I was a man so then I would not have to deal with that time of the month.
Oh don't be fooled Jess. Men might not have to experience them biologically, but believe me, men have to experience periods emotionally and sometimes physically!
Lol did I say I wasn't going to indulge in stereotypes? ...
I call them question marks.
Actually, it's a proven fact that men too have cycles of hormonal changes that can cause to a certain degree the emotional changes a woman experiences. Hormones in our bodies are constantly changing, and that goes no matter your gender.
Dusty's Irony and Sarcasm class starts in April. Places are limited so sign up now!
I thought it was only a question mark if it didn't come?
that's what I thought to, Candi. I don't like that time of the month myself, cause (this is being honest) I'm a real bitch at least two days before during and two days after it. however, it's said that the sex drive is......well, on overdrive though. I actually haven't noticed, but I guess it is. As for men cooking and cleaning, I think that most men these days do do that sort of stuff, if not to help out, to keep the peace around the house. lol!
Question mark as in no idea when it comes. I hate when that happens.
An herb called Vitex (or Chasteberry - same thing) will help to regulate menstrual cycles.
It's been several years since I've needed to take it, but I think it worked for me in 3-4 months, and decreased some PMS symptoms, as well.
I love being female and I really don't think there's much to complain about, at least for me. I'm very much the typical girly girl when I'm going out--I like to wear skirts and heels and jewelry and so forth--but around the house or just hanging out with close friends I really don't care much about any of that. I do wear makeup, but only very lightly, and I have to be in the right mood for shopping. As for periods, which seems to be the major complaint, they don't bother me much at all. Yes, cramps are a bitch and I usually get very tired and hot during that time, but it's nothing I can't deal with and generally doesn't inconvenience me. It's just a part of life and something that lets you know you're healthy and all is as it should be with your body. I have never for a moment wished to be the opposite sex and I doubt I ever will.
so, ladies, on the list thus far in support of being a woman are make-up, shopping, high-heels and periods. What's that sound? It's a suffragette spinning in her grave lol
And where are the fellas in this discussiona? What's wrong, wont your women let you speak up? Hee hee
Well, as for me, i'm very anti femmy. I'm very goth ish. Always wair black, spikes, if i wair heals, there usually boots or massive platforms, never, never make up, even if i liked it, i just couldn't be fucked with the hour it takes to put on a "fake face", i have majorly long black hair, but, it works, and, doesn't really take alot to look after. As for menstrating, my pain is horendis, but, i never get PMS lucky for my man, and, meh, it's over in a week anyway, i really don't see any need to bitch. I'm a very non femmy kinda girl. E.g., i'd much rather hang out with the boys and chill than go shopping or talk about all that girly crap. For that matter, i never go shopping les it's really needed. Though, shopping for pc stuff or electronics is a difforent story. lmao Though, i no when and, when not to dress all goth. I will wair a dress if totally worented and, i'll make the pearsings look less obvious, there are times for it, and, times when you should look decent.
sorry for the ramble...Sky.
Oh yes, and we talk a lot. What's that statistic for how many words women speak each day? Who has time to count those?
I think everyone talks equally.
hehehe, true that, i wouldn't wanna count. My friends tell me i never shut up. *grins*
